INDAC

The Indian Academic Championship conducted by Xpress Minds Edutainment is a multi-tiered contest. In Year 1, it consists of:

The Regional Tournament is being held in different Indian cities. It is an in-person tournament, providing a simulative and preparatory experience to India-based students for international bee and bowl events.

Structure

In its inaugural edition, INDAC is open to students studying in grades 4 to 9 at schools across India.
Students can participate in 3 age divisions and 4 subjects (see fee details).

Stages

Each student can participate only within a specific age division, but can take the ORQE and subsequent rounds in 1, 2, 3 or all 4 subjects.

***All students who qualify for the Asian Championships in the History Bee also qualify for the 2025 International History Olympiad in Paris
All students who qualify for the Asian Championships in the Geography Bee also qualify for the 2026 International Geography Championships
All students who qualify for the Asian Championships in the Science Bee also qualify for the inaugural International Science Championships in the USA (date TBD soon)

Online Regional Qualifying Examination (ORQE)

All participants must register and take the INDAC Online Regional Qualifying Exam (ORQE). This will be available to all eligible participants (see schedule). Students must be in grades 4-9 to be eligible to compete during the 2024-2025 academic year.

The ORQE for each subject for each age division can be attempted up to 2 times. The better score will be considered for the Regional Tournament. Participants in the top 50 percentile or participants scoring at least 50% (whichever is greater) in the ORQE will be eligible to participate in the in-person INDAC Regional Tournament.

Participation in ORQE is free.

Regional Tournament: Proctored Quiz & Buzzer Play-Offs

All qualified students can participate at the INDAC Regional Tournament, after paying a fee for each subject that they wish to attempt.

The Regional Tournament is an in-person event. In the inaugural edition of INDAC, Regional Tournament are being held in the following cities:

  • Delhi
  • Mumbai
  • Bengaluru

The Regional Tournament comprises 3 stages.


Proctored Quiz: Participants play a proctored quiz of 50 multiple choice questions on a handheld device. All participants will be required to carry a smartphone with an Internet connection to take the Regional Tournament at the venue. All participants who qualify for the Regional Buzzer Play Off will be eligible to participate in the international contests organized by International Academic Competitions.

Regional Buzzer Play-Offs (Qualifiers): All participants who play the proctored written quiz will be sorted on the basis of their performance and placed in slots for the Buzzer Play-Offs. Each Buzzer Play-Off will accommodate upto 20 participants, who will face 50 questions on the buzzer. This round will feature paragraph length quiz questions with questions moving from harder to easier information on each topic. Participants ring in with a buzzer to answer the questions; if they are correct they get points; if not, they cannot ring in again on that question.

Regional Buzzer Play-Offs (Finals): The final stage of the Regional Tournament will feature the best performing contestants from the Buzzer Play-Offs (Qualifiers), who will then vie for the title of Regional Champion.

Prizes and Certificates


At the Regional Tournament, the champion participant in each age division in each subject will receive a plaque. The 2nd placed and 3rd placed participants will receive a medal each. All finalists will receive a Certificate of Merit indicating their position in the Regional Tournament.

All Regional Tournament participants will receive a Certificate of Participation at the event.
